ELIZABETH MATEER, MA, LMHCA
Psychotherapist – (she/her/hers)
When coming into a session with me, you can expect to be met with warmth and nonjudgemental acceptance. I take an integrative approach to counseling with an emphasis on humanistic theory. This philosophy of psychotherapy emphasizes looking at the individual from a holistic point of view and focuses on concepts such as free will, self-efficacy, and self-actualization. Rather than concentrating on dysfunction, I strive to help people fulfill their potential and maximize their well-being. The therapeutic relationship I create with my clients is the most important part of this process, I collaborate with my clients throughout to find the most effective evidence-based treatments and create a personalized experience towards wellness.
My areas of special training and expertise include gender and sexuality, identity formation, and relationship issues. Specifically, working with survivors of trauma, abuse, victimization, and people in recovery from alcohol and drugs.
I received my Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness and LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services from New York University, and am currently continuing my education by pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Seattle Pacific University. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of Washington.
