Business Overview

LPC #4633 (Expires: 2022-08-31)

Hi! I’m Kristin she/her
I could start this by telling you about my education, years in the mental health field, training, specializations, and so forth, but I’d like to present myself in whole enchilada form first. I am a human person, which means that I make mistakes, cuss, care too much, and have days where I do not feel that I can do anything right. Believe it or not, it has taken the perfectionist in me a long time to learn that I’m okay and to be okay with it.
I am a survivor of narcissistic abuse and complex trauma in many different forms. Through therapy, I have been able to discover hidden things about myself. Some of which aren’t all sunshine and rainbows, and some that are indeed covered in brightly colored unicorn fairy dust. Learning about myself has been a lifelong process, and continues to be something that I am involved in daily. My personal journey, training, and education has allowed me to learn ways that I can help others just like you.

Origin of “The Lead Counselor”

Part of my journey in healing stems from taking back, or reclaiming parts of myself that I overlooked, dismissed or were particularly traumatic, and so forth. ‘The Lead Counselor’ name is one such example of how I had an experience, felt many different feelings about it, and tried to tuck it back into a corner, never to be seen or heard from again. Instead, I uncovered it and decided to work with it. ‘Lead Counselor’ was a title that I was given in a previous workspace, and I wanted to give it new power and meaning for myself as I moved into private practice. It has special meaning for me, as it involved growth and learning. I hope to continue to inspire myself as well as others with this choice.

For those still reading (thank you!), I received my Bachelors in Psychology from Lincoln Memorial University in 2011 and my Masters in Education with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College in 2013. I am currently an LPC-MHSP (Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation) in the state of Tennessee.
I have been trained in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I use many trauma informed interventions in the therapy process to create an eclectic experience tailored specifically for each client that chooses to work with me.
I started my work with families and children, focusing on intensive in home services, and navigating to working with teens in residential care. I currently work with adults with symptoms of traumatic and disenfranchised grief, anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD).
