According to an IPSOS survey, mental health is a serious health issue in Singapore and around the world. In fact, about 46% of Singaporeans think mental health is the number one health issue in Singapore today ahead of cancer at 38% and stress at 35%.
About 78% (8 in 10) of Singaporeans view mental health just as important as physical health. However, even with this knowledge, most Singaporeans don’t seek help for mental health issues. According to the National Population Health Survey in 2023, the prevalence of poor mental health increased from 13.4% in 2020 to 17% in 2022. This means that although most Singaporeans are aware of how important mental health is, many don’t get the support they need to seek mental health treatment.
