Esztergom, Hungary, is located north of the country, only 46 kilometres from the capital Budapest. It is found in Komárom-Esztergom county, on the right bank of the Danube river, forming the border with Slovakia.

History/Data
Until the middle of the 13th century, Esztergom was once the capital and royal residence of the early Árpád princes and kings and successive Hungarian kings.
Stephen was born in Esztergom, and in 1000, he was crowned there.
The archbishopric is the oldest in Hungary, with a history tracing back to 1001. It then moved to Trnava while the Turkish occupation took place from 1543 to 1683 and returned in 1820.
Esztergom’s fortress was last restored in the 18th century and remained excellent. It is located on top of Várhegy (Castle Hill).
In 1895, a bridge was constructed that joins Esztergom with Štúrovo, Slovakia. However, this bridge was destroyed in 1944. They ended up rebuilding this bridge in 2001.
After World War II, various industries were developed in Esztergom. These industries include automobiles, electronics, and optical products.
In 2020, the population of Esztergom was 28,165 residents.
