Anxiety and depression are rising in young people, as reported in the largest ever conducted about mental health among Irish youth.
The research surveyed more than 19,000 young people between the ages of 12 and 25 and discovered that teenagers who spend three hours or more online every day are more likely to have disturbed sleep and have higher instances of anxiety and depression.
The study was performed by the UCD school of psychology and funded by Jigsaw, the national youth mental health service. This group has followed up their research with a similar study conducted in 2012.

History/Data
In the 10th century, Dublin was known as a settlement founded by the Vikings. The Vikings established this new town on the south bank of the Liffey in about 841. Initially, the settlement was called Dubh Linn and was fortified with a ditch and an earth rampart with a wooden palisade at the tip.
In 2021, Dublin’s population was about 1,241,953 residents.
