Mental Health in Cardiff, Wales
According to the Welsh government, more than 11,000 youth have received counseling from 2017 to 2018. In addition, about three children in an average-sized classroom across the UK experience a mental health issue of some kind.
3,500 young people in Wales also experience severe depression, and 13% have engaged in self-harm. At-risk groups include children in care, care leavers, young carers, minority groups, and those who have experienced childhood trauma.

Cardiff’s development came from the emergence of coal and iron ore mines around Merthyr Tydfil during the second half of the 18th century. The Glamorganshire Canal opened in 1794, and in 1798, the first dock was constructed at the canal’s Cardiff terminus.
