Dr. Rafineè Butler is an Oakland-based Marriage and Family Therapist, Professional Clinical Counselor, and Clinical Sexologist. She holds a Doctoral Degree in Human Sexuality and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She also completed a specialty in Professional Clinical Counseling.
Dr. Butler helps individuals and couples explore relationships, intimacy, and sexuality. Her work focuses on identifying patterns, emotions, and beliefs that limit growth. She believes clients already hold the answers they need. Therapy becomes a space to uncover those solutions and build healthier, more intentional lives.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in relational and sex-positive frameworks. She creates a safe environment where clients can explore communication issues, identity, trauma, or conflict. Her goal is to support long-term emotional well-being and stronger relationships.
Dr. Butler currently serves as the MFT/PCC Program Director at St. Mary’s College of California. She previously taught there as adjunct faculty. She has also worked as a consultant for Bay Area Women Against Rape and as a training instructor for SF Women Against Rape. Her background includes teaching at The Women’s Therapy Center, working as a forensic psychotherapist intern at Sharper Future, and serving as a parenting counselor with HealthRight 360 Women’s Hope.
Her training includes post-master’s specialization in sex therapy, advanced couples and adolescent work, and a two-year clinical program at The Women’s Therapy Center. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Professional Clinical Counselor.
Dr. Butler brings deep clinical experience and a compassionate presence to every session. She is committed to helping clients heal, grow, and create more connected lives.
