Wendy Hawkins, MA, LCSW, LSCSW
Wendy she/her/hers currently holds a Master’s degree in social work obtained from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is clinically licensed within the state of Kansas (4619) and Missouri (2017000786). Wendy’s personal mission statement is “Empower, Educate and Evolve self as well as those around her”. Wendy has experience with many populations but particularly enjoys working with women, teen girls as well as couples. In addition, Wendy is supportive, compassionate and competent working with 2SLGBTQIA+ persons.
Wendy has experience and is competent with all diagnoses but particularly enjoys working with those who experience anxiety, depression and/or disassociation from trauma related events. Wendy utilizes an eclectic and holistic approach with her clients but primarily relies on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-focused Therapy and the strength based perspective to fulfill her mission. In addition, Wendy utilizes complementary therapies such as Chakra energy healing as well as mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) to supplement traditional talk therapy. She believes each client is the master of their mental health journey and respects this process by allowing the client to be in control throughout the course of their evolution. Wendy is currently a trained EMDR therapist to assist her clients with the reprocessing of traumatic events. She is passionate regarding personal empowerment of women and girls as well as the dismantling of systemic racism and oppression. Wendy enjoys gardening, traveling and designing custom jewelry in her spare time.
