Secret Celebrity Drag Race Season 2 Kicks Off This Week

This article contains spoilers if you haven’t seen the first season of Secret Celebrity Drag Race.

As RuPaul often does in previous installments of Drag Race, she is changing things up with a new secretive format for Secret Celebrity Drag Race, season 2.

During the first season, three celebrities underwent dramatic transformations with the help of Drag Race royalty before competing for prize money for various charities.

Even though season two has the same premise, there is one big twist: the celebrities’ identities will be a secret until they have been eliminated.

Nine celebrities have been handpicked to compete this season, with weekly challenges before the bottom two have to lip sync for their lives.

In addition to shifting the format, the show will be increasing the prize to the winner – with $100,000 being donated to their charity of choice.

This format is being compared to the Masked Singer, even though these contestants are more covered. However, drag can dramatically change a person’s appearance, so it may be difficult to tell and be a fun surprise.

RuPaul, Michele Visage, Carson Kressley, and Ross Matthews will be returning as judges for Secret Celebrity Drag Race. Monét X Change, Jujubee, and Brooke Lynn Hytes will be this season’s mentors, along with guest appearances from other RPDR alums.

RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race premieres on Friday, August 12, on VH1. Here’s the previously mentioned sneak peek:
