Darbey Carlson (she/her) is the Owner and a Registered Psychotherapist at Fika Mental Health and built the idea for this practice around the Swedish notion of a “Fika Break,” where one stops to pause, nourish, and socialize during the day.
We live in a society that often asks us to get distracted by our past experiences, the fast-paced present, or an urgency toward future goals, and we forget to permit ourselves to take a break for our whole selves.
Currently, Fika Mental Health offers Individual and Couples Counselling and Nutritional Counselling with a licensed dietitian.
The mental health practitioners at Fika Mental Health currently only work virtually.
Darbey Carlson is a Registered Psychotherapist, Practice Owner, ADHD-CSP, and EMDR Practitioner with a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of South Wales and a Master of Counselling from Yorkville University. With experience working with people from various backgrounds, she aims to provide a safe space for clients to navigate present-day and past challenges without judgment. Her areas of interest include mood, attachment, grief, trauma, and life transitions, with a particular focus on ADHD and neurodiversity. Darbey is now offering EMDR intensives and accepting new clients.
Darbey is passionate about helping clients feel “stuck” in their day-to-day lives, explore different perspectives, and find fulfillment. Her work is based on various frameworks, including a trauma-focused approach to DBT, CBT, ACT, and narrative therapy. She aims to create a customized and specific approach to each client’s situation and preferences. Her areas of interest include mood, attachment, grief, trauma, ADHD, and life transitions. Also, she is an EMDR and ADHD-CSP practitioner
Darbey and her team put the needs of the customer first before anything. This results-oriented approach ensures that the needs of the customer are met and that they get the solution they want.
